Breastfeeding benefits the whole family.

We know that breastfeeding discoveries don’t end with the newborn season. Every stage of breastfeeding presents new opportunities for growth and learning. Our Breastfeeding Family Resources sessions offer support for navigating the other exciting, and at times confusing and overwhelming, parts of the breastfeeding journey. These one-hour consultations cover a range of breastfeeding related topics for the breastfeeding family.

Session Topics

  • Gentle Weaning Strategies for Older Toddlers Develop a deeper understanding of the complexities of this powerful transition process and learn creative ways to navigate the new emotional, mental, and physical terrain that is uniquely related to weaning an older child.

  • Personal Breastfeeding History Review No matter how long it’s been since you last breastfed a child, gain clarity and perspective around your journey, ask questions that you might not have had space or support to ask at the time, and prepare for future breastfeeding journeys with a more informed understanding of your capacity to nourish your baby with your breastmilk.

  • Breastfeeding Family Dynamics Receive support appreciating and navigating the many shifts that breastfeeding brings to family life, including sleeping arrangements, transportation options, household management, and father/partner support practices.

  • Nursing While Pregnant Understand the different factors related to breastfeeding while pregnant, including tandem nursing and/or weaning while pregnant, and determine the best practices for you and your family.

  • Tandem Nursing Develop effective and personalized tools for managing the labors of breastfeeding multiple children simultaneously.

  • Breastfeeding & Sleeping Gain more understanding about safe co-sleeping, breastfeeding through the night, benefits for mom and baby, and nighttime parenting tips.

  • Nursing Through Pain Learn about alternatives to abrupt and unwanted weaning if there is pain during breastfeeding, especially when healing from a baby’s bite. Receive support determining when gentle home remedies are appropriate for common nipple or breast discomforts, or when more specific medical attention might be needed for more serious issues.

  • Preconception Breastfeeding Life Design Even before you are pregnant or planning for a baby, expand your awareness of how you can begin taking steps now to ensure you create space, support, and resources to sustain a happy breastfeeding life for your future family.

  • Customized Session Do you need support in a more specific way? Let us know what you need help with and we’ll design a special consultation just for you and your family.
